Install Salesforce in Codex

What you need first

  • Codex, installed.
  • Docker, which gives the docker command the server starts with.
  • Your own values for YOUR_AUTH_MODE,YOUR_SALESFORCE_CLIENT_ID,YOUR_SALESFORCE_CLIENT_SECRET,YOUR_SALESFORCE_INSTANCE_URL.

Steps

  1. Run this in a terminal. It writes the server into ~/.codex/config.toml, which the Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share.
codex mcp add salesforce-mcp --env AUTH_MODE=YOUR_AUTH_MODE --env SALESFORCE_CLIENT_ID=YOUR_SALESFORCE_CLIENT_ID --env SALESFORCE_CLIENT_SECRET=YOUR_SALESFORCE_CLIENT_SECRET --env SALESFORCE_INSTANCE_URL=YOUR_SALESFORCE_INSTANCE_URL -- docker run -i --rm -e AUTH_MODE -e SALESFORCE_CLIENT_ID -e SALESFORCE_CLIENT_SECRET -e SALESFORCE_INSTANCE_URL ghcr.io/wyre-technology/salesforce-mcp:v1.0.3
  1. Replace YOUR_AUTH_MODE,YOUR_SALESFORCE_CLIENT_ID,YOUR_SALESFORCE_CLIENT_SECRET,YOUR_SALESFORCE_INSTANCE_URL with your own values.
  2. Start Codex again and type /mcp: the server is listed.

Check it worked

Ask Codex: List the tools of salesforce-mcp.

If it does not start

Cannot connect to the Docker daemon
Docker is not running. Start it, then restart Codex.
The server starts, but its tools fail
A YOUR_… placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong.
