Moving off Smithery: find your servers a new home

On Smithery stops its connection service: server URLs on server.smithery.ai and run.tools, the Smithery CLI, its API, and Smithery accounts and API keys stop working (Smithery's notice). Paste what you use today and get the same server from the Official MCP Registry, with what to put in your client instead.

We read only the server's name from what you paste; a key in it is never stored.

Find every Smithery entry you have

  • Claude Desktop: claude_desktop_config.json (Settings › Developer › Edit Config) and Settings › Connectors.
  • Claude Code: run claude mcp list.
  • Cursor: ~/.cursor/mcp.json, and .cursor/mcp.json in each project.
  • VS Code: .vscode/mcp.json in each workspace, and the mcp.json of your user profile.

Every entry that names server.smithery.ai, run.tools or @smithery/cli needs a replacement. Paste each one above.

Questions

Will my keys move?
No. Smithery held them; set them again in your client.
Where do these results come from?
From the Official MCP Registry: a server's name, description and install details are what its publisher wrote there. We match a Smithery name to a registry server by its hosted URL, its repository, its website or its GitHub owner and name.
Is plug.directory part of Smithery?
No. plug.directory is not affiliated with Smithery.
