Install Rock's Apify Utility Actors in Gemini CLI

What you need first

  • Gemini CLI, installed.
  • Nothing else: the server runs on its publisher's machines and Gemini CLI connects to it.
  • Your own value for YOUR_AUTHORIZATION.

Steps

  1. Open ~/.gemini/settings.json, or create it. For one project only, use .gemini/settings.json in that project.
  2. Add this block. If the file already has mcpServers, add only the entry inside it.
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "rock-apify-tools": {
      "httpUrl": "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=rock-ai-tools/pdf-to-text-chunks-rag-ready,rock-ai-tools/csv-cleaner-deduplicator,rock-ai-tools/bulk-link-checker,rock-ai-tools/sitemap-to-url-list,rock-ai-tools/bulk-email-syntax-mx-validator,rock-ai-tools/bulk-phone-number-format-validator,rock-ai-tools/eu-vat-validator",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "YOUR_AUTHORIZATION" }
    }
  }
}
  1. Replace YOUR_AUTHORIZATION with your own value.
  2. Save the file and restart Gemini CLI.

Check it worked

Ask Gemini CLI: List the tools of rock-apify-tools.

If it does not start

401 Unauthorized
The endpoint wants a sign-in or a key. Sign in when Gemini CLI asks, or check the value in place of the placeholder.
The server starts, but its tools fail
A YOUR_… placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong.
Nothing changes after a restart
The file is not valid JSON any more. Look for a missing comma where the block was added.
