Install Odoo MCP in Codex

What you need first

  • Codex, installed.
  • uv, which gives the uvx command the server starts with.
  • Your own values for YOUR_ODOO_MCP_ODOO_URL,YOUR_ODOO_MCP_ODOO_DATABASE,YOUR_ODOO_MCP_ODOO_USERNAME,YOUR_ODOO_MCP_ODOO_API_KEY,YOUR_ODOO_MCP_ALLOWED_COMPANY_IDS,YOUR_ODOO_MCP_DEFAULT_COMPANY_ID,YOUR_CONFIG.

Steps

  1. Run this in a terminal. It writes the server into ~/.codex/config.toml, which the Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share.
codex mcp add odoo-mcp --env ODOO_MCP_ODOO_URL=YOUR_ODOO_MCP_ODOO_URL --env ODOO_MCP_ODOO_DATABASE=YOUR_ODOO_MCP_ODOO_DATABASE --env ODOO_MCP_ODOO_USERNAME=YOUR_ODOO_MCP_ODOO_USERNAME --env ODOO_MCP_ODOO_API_KEY=YOUR_ODOO_MCP_ODOO_API_KEY --env ODOO_MCP_ALLOWED_COMPANY_IDS=YOUR_ODOO_MCP_ALLOWED_COMPANY_IDS --env ODOO_MCP_DEFAULT_COMPANY_ID=YOUR_ODOO_MCP_DEFAULT_COMPANY_ID -- uvx odoo-erp-mcp==0.3.0 --config YOUR_CONFIG
  1. Replace YOUR_ODOO_MCP_ODOO_URL,YOUR_ODOO_MCP_ODOO_DATABASE,YOUR_ODOO_MCP_ODOO_USERNAME,YOUR_ODOO_MCP_ODOO_API_KEY,YOUR_ODOO_MCP_ALLOWED_COMPANY_IDS,YOUR_ODOO_MCP_DEFAULT_COMPANY_ID,YOUR_CONFIG with your own values.
  2. Start Codex again and type /mcp: the server is listed.

Check it worked

Ask Codex: List the tools of odoo-mcp.

If it does not start

spawn uvx ENOENT
uv is not on the PATH that Codex sees. Install it, or write the full path of uvx in the config.
The server starts, but its tools fail
A YOUR_… placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong.
