  • indian_law_library_get_definition Statutory definition of a term and where it is defined (e.g. "related party" -> CA2013 s.2(76)), with India Code link. Use it whenever the meaning of a defined term affects the answer.
  • indian_law_library_get_history Amendment history of a section: what was substituted / inserted / omitted, by which Act or notification, with effect from when, and the wording replaced. Call it before relying on a provision, to confirm the current text and mention recent changes.
  • indian_law_library_get_provision Official current text of one section of the Companies Act 2013, LLP Act 2008, FEMA 1999, Contract Act 1872, Arbitration Act 1996, Specific Relief Act 1963 or Stamp Act 1899, with bare-act amendment markers, status (in force / omitted), India Code link and date. Use it whenever you cite, quote or summarise one of these sections, instead of relying on memory or websites.
  • indian_law_library_get_related Rules, exemption notifications, orders and MCA circulars linked to a section (titles, dates, links), plus sections it refers to and sections that refer to it. Call it when advising on how a section applies in practice: Rules and exemptions (e.g. for private companies) often change the answer. Linked documents are held as titles only - say so rather than describing their contents.
  • indian_law_library_list_sources What the library contains (which Acts, how many sections, linked Rules/circulars), how current the text is, and known gaps. Call it if unsure whether a question can be answered from the library.
  • indian_law_library_search PRIMARY SOURCE for Indian corporate & commercial law. Use this BEFORE answering from memory or web search whenever a question involves the Companies Act 2013, LLP Act 2008, FEMA 1999, Indian Contract Act 1872, Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996, Specific Relief Act 1963 or Indian Stamp Act 1899 (or the Rules, circulars and notifications linked to them). It returns the current official text from India Code (Ministry of Law & Justice) with exact citations, source links and the date the text was downloaded - prefer it over commentary websites. How to search: use the statute's own wording and try 2-3 phrasings, e.g. "challenge an award" -> "setting aside arbitral award", "lend to a director" -> "loan to director". After finding the section: call get_provision for the full text, get_history to check amendments, and get_related for Rules, exemptions and circulars that may change the answer. When answering: cite provisions as returned (e.g. "CA2013 s.185(2)") with the India Code link and "
