Install Patent Checker in Kiro CLI
What you need first
- Kiro CLI, installed.
- uv, which
gives the
uvxcommand the server starts with. - Your own value for
YOUR_PATENT_CHECKER_OPERATOR_CONSENT.
Steps
- Open
~/.codex/config.toml, or create it. The Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share this file. - Add this table at the end of the file.
{
"mcpServers": {
"patent-checker": {
"command": "uvx",
"args": ["patent-checker==1.4.1", "serve", "--transport", "stdio"],
"env": { "PATENT_CHECKER_OPERATOR_CONSENT": "YOUR_PATENT_CHECKER_OPERATOR_CONSENT" }
}
}
} - Replace
YOUR_PATENT_CHECKER_OPERATOR_CONSENTwith your own value. - Save the file and restart Kiro CLI.
Check it worked
Ask Kiro CLI: List the tools of patent-checker.
If it does not start
- spawn uvx ENOENT
- uv is not on the PATH that Kiro CLI sees. Install it, or write the
full path of
uvxin the config. - The server starts, but its tools fail
- A
YOUR_…placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong. - Nothing changes after a restart
- The file is not valid JSON any more. Look for a missing comma where the block was added.
