Install ConnectWise Manage in Codex

What you need first

  • Codex, installed.
  • Docker, which gives the docker command the server starts with.
  • Your own values for YOUR_CW_MANAGE_COMPANY_ID,YOUR_CW_MANAGE_PUBLIC_KEY,YOUR_CW_MANAGE_PRIVATE_KEY,YOUR_CW_MANAGE_CLIENT_ID.

Steps

  1. Run this in a terminal. It writes the server into ~/.codex/config.toml, which the Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share.
codex mcp add connectwise-manage-mcp --env CW_MANAGE_COMPANY_ID=YOUR_CW_MANAGE_COMPANY_ID --env CW_MANAGE_PUBLIC_KEY=YOUR_CW_MANAGE_PUBLIC_KEY --env CW_MANAGE_PRIVATE_KEY=YOUR_CW_MANAGE_PRIVATE_KEY --env CW_MANAGE_CLIENT_ID=YOUR_CW_MANAGE_CLIENT_ID -- docker run -i --rm -e CW_MANAGE_COMPANY_ID -e CW_MANAGE_PUBLIC_KEY -e CW_MANAGE_PRIVATE_KEY -e CW_MANAGE_CLIENT_ID ghcr.io/wyre-technology/connectwise-manage-mcp:v1.8.6
  1. Replace YOUR_CW_MANAGE_COMPANY_ID,YOUR_CW_MANAGE_PUBLIC_KEY,YOUR_CW_MANAGE_PRIVATE_KEY,YOUR_CW_MANAGE_CLIENT_ID with your own values.
  2. Start Codex again and type /mcp: the server is listed.

Check it worked

Ask Codex: List the tools of connectwise-manage-mcp.

If it does not start

Cannot connect to the Docker daemon
Docker is not running. Start it, then restart Codex.
The server starts, but its tools fail
A YOUR_… placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong.
