Install Autotask in Kiro

What you need first

  • Kiro, installed.
  • Docker, which gives the docker command the server starts with.
  • Your own values for YOUR_AUTOTASK_USERNAME,YOUR_AUTOTASK_SECRET,YOUR_AUTOTASK_INTEGRATION_CODE.

Steps

  1. Open ~/.codex/config.toml, or create it. The Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share this file.
  2. Add this table at the end of the file.
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "autotask-mcp": {
      "command": "docker",
      "args": ["run", "-i", "--rm", "-e", "AUTOTASK_USERNAME", "-e", "AUTOTASK_SECRET", "-e", "AUTOTASK_INTEGRATION_CODE", "ghcr.io/wyre-technology/autotask-mcp:v2.32.10"],
      "env": { "AUTOTASK_USERNAME": "YOUR_AUTOTASK_USERNAME", "AUTOTASK_SECRET": "YOUR_AUTOTASK_SECRET", "AUTOTASK_INTEGRATION_CODE": "YOUR_AUTOTASK_INTEGRATION_CODE" }
    }
  }
}
  1. Replace YOUR_AUTOTASK_USERNAME,YOUR_AUTOTASK_SECRET,YOUR_AUTOTASK_INTEGRATION_CODE with your own values.
  2. Save the file and restart Kiro.

Check it worked

Ask Kiro: List the tools of autotask-mcp.

If it does not start

Cannot connect to the Docker daemon
Docker is not running. Start it, then restart Kiro.
The server starts, but its tools fail
A YOUR_… placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong.
Nothing changes after a restart
The file is not valid JSON any more. Look for a missing comma where the block was added.
