Install Steadyfetch actors on Apify MCP in Codex

What you need first

  • Codex, installed.
  • Nothing else: the server runs on its publisher's machines and Codex connects to it.
  • Your own value for YOUR_AUTHORIZATION.

Steps

  1. Open ~/.codex/config.toml, or create it. The Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share this file.
  2. Add this table at the end of the file.
[mcp_servers.steadyfetch-actors]
url = "https://mcp.apify.com/?tools=fetch-actor-details,steadyfetch/keyword-search-volume-scraper,steadyfetch/instagram-reel-transcript-scraper,steadyfetch/instagram-post-likers-scraper,steadyfetch/instagram-profile-details-scraper,steadyfetch/facebook-ads-transcript-scraper,steadyfetch/media-transcriber,steadyfetch/reddit-scraper,steadyfetch/linkedin-sales-navigator-scraper,steadyfetch/instagram-profile-posts,steadyfetch/instagram-keyword-reels-scraper,steadyfetch/facebook-reels-scraper,steadyfetch/google-trends-scraper,steadyfetch/instagram-comments-scraper,steadyfetch/youtube-transcript-scraper,steadyfetch/youtube-channel-transcripts,steadyfetch/instagram-followers-scraper,steadyfetch/linkedin-posts-scraper,steadyfetch/instagram-similar-profiles-scraper,steadyfetch/youtube-comments-scraper,steadyfetch/competitor-keywords-scraper,steadyfetch/multi-job-board-scraper,steadyfetch/amazon-search-scraper,steadyfetch/google-keyword-suggest-scraper,steadyfetch/amazon-bestsellers-scraper,steadyfetch/google-trends-now-scraper,steadyfetch/breakout-keywords-scraper,steadyfetch/amazon-seller-scraper,steadyfetch/indeed-jobs-scraper,steadyfetch/amazon-product-scraper,steadyfetch/social-trends-scraper,steadyfetch/google-ads-video-transcript-scraper,steadyfetch/glassdoor-jobs-scraper,steadyfetch/company-jobs-by-domain,steadyfetch/google-ads-creative-text-scraper,steadyfetch/tiktok-ads-transcript-scraper,steadyfetch/google-jobs-scraper,steadyfetch/linkedin-ads-transcript-scraper,steadyfetch/instagram-hashtag-scraper,steadyfetch/instagram-post-details-scraper,steadyfetch/linkedin-jobs-scraper"
http_headers = { "Authorization" = "YOUR_AUTHORIZATION" }
  1. Replace YOUR_AUTHORIZATION with your own value.
  2. Start Codex again and type /mcp: the server is listed.

Check it worked

Ask Codex: List the tools of steadyfetch-actors.

If it does not start

401 Unauthorized
The endpoint wants a sign-in or a key. Sign in when Codex asks, or check the value in place of the placeholder.
The server starts, but its tools fail
A YOUR_… placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong.
Nothing changes after a restart
The file has the same table twice. Keep one [mcp_servers.steadyfetch-actors] table.
