Install Sezzlee SQL Server in Amp

What you need first

  • Amp, installed.
  • Node.js, which gives the npx command the server starts with.
  • Your own values for YOUR_SEZZLEE_MSSQL_SERVER,YOUR_SEZZLEE_MSSQL_DATABASE,YOUR_SEZZLEE_MSSQL_USER,YOUR_SEZZLEE_MSSQL_PASSWORD.

Steps

  1. Open ~/.codex/config.toml, or create it. The Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share this file.
  2. Add this table at the end of the file.
{
  "amp.mcpServers": {
    "mssql": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@sezzlee/[email protected]"],
      "env": { "SEZZLEE_MSSQL_SERVER": "YOUR_SEZZLEE_MSSQL_SERVER", "SEZZLEE_MSSQL_DATABASE": "YOUR_SEZZLEE_MSSQL_DATABASE", "SEZZLEE_MSSQL_USER": "YOUR_SEZZLEE_MSSQL_USER", "SEZZLEE_MSSQL_PASSWORD": "YOUR_SEZZLEE_MSSQL_PASSWORD" }
    }
  }
}
  1. Replace YOUR_SEZZLEE_MSSQL_SERVER,YOUR_SEZZLEE_MSSQL_DATABASE,YOUR_SEZZLEE_MSSQL_USER,YOUR_SEZZLEE_MSSQL_PASSWORD with your own values.
  2. Save the file and restart Amp.

Check it worked

Ask Amp: List the tools of mssql.

If it does not start

spawn npx ENOENT
Node.js is not on the PATH that Amp sees. Install it, or write the full path of npx in the config.
The server starts, but its tools fail
A YOUR_… placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong.
Nothing changes after a restart
The file is not valid JSON any more. Look for a missing comma where the block was added.
