Install PDFluent in Cline

What you need first

  • Cline, installed.
  • uv, which gives the uvx command the server starts with.
  • Your own value for YOUR__PATH_TO_DOCUMENTS.

Steps

  1. In Cline, open the MCP Servers icon, then the Configure tab, and choose Configure MCP Servers. It opens cline_mcp_settings.json.
  2. Add this block. If the file already has mcpServers, add only the entry inside it.
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "pdfluent-mcp": {
      "command": "uvx",
      "args": ["pdfluent-mcp==0.2.0", "--root", "YOUR__PATH_TO_DOCUMENTS"]
    }
  }
}
  1. Replace YOUR__PATH_TO_DOCUMENTS with your own value.
  2. Save the file. Cline reloads it and lists the server under MCP Servers.

Check it worked

Ask Cline: List the tools of pdfluent-mcp.

If it does not start

spawn uvx ENOENT
uv is not on the PATH that Cline sees. Install it, or write the full path of uvx in the config.
The server starts, but its tools fail
A YOUR_… placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong.
Nothing changes after a restart
The file is not valid JSON any more. Look for a missing comma where the block was added.
