What you need first
- Codex, installed.
- Docker, which
gives the
dockercommand the server starts with. - Your own value for
YOUR_PROMETHEUS_URL.
Steps
- Run this in a terminal. It writes the server into
~/.codex/config.toml, which the Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share.
codex mcp add prometheus-mcp-server --env PROMETHEUS_URL=YOUR_PROMETHEUS_URL -- docker run -i --rm -e PROMETHEUS_URL ghcr.io/pab1it0/prometheus-mcp-server:1.6.2 - Replace
YOUR_PROMETHEUS_URLwith your own value. - Start Codex again and type
/mcp: the server is listed.
