Install ABAP Accelerator in Codex
What you need first
- Codex, installed.
- uv, which
gives the
uvxcommand the server starts with. - Your own values for
YOUR_SAP_HOST,YOUR_SAP_INSTANCE_NUMBER,YOUR_SAP_CLIENT,YOUR_SAP_USERNAME,YOUR_SAP_PASSWORD.
Steps
- Run this in a terminal. It writes the server into
~/.codex/config.toml, which the Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share.
codex mcp add abap-accelerator --env SAP_HOST=YOUR_SAP_HOST --env SAP_INSTANCE_NUMBER=YOUR_SAP_INSTANCE_NUMBER --env SAP_CLIENT=YOUR_SAP_CLIENT --env SAP_USERNAME=YOUR_SAP_USERNAME --env SAP_PASSWORD=YOUR_SAP_PASSWORD -- uvx abap-accelerator==1.0.1 - Replace
YOUR_SAP_HOST,YOUR_SAP_INSTANCE_NUMBER,YOUR_SAP_CLIENT,YOUR_SAP_USERNAME,YOUR_SAP_PASSWORDwith your own values. - Start Codex again and type
/mcp: the server is listed.
Check it worked
Ask Codex: List the tools of abap-accelerator.
If it does not start
- spawn uvx ENOENT
- uv is not on the PATH that Codex sees. Install it, or write the
full path of
uvxin the config. - The server starts, but its tools fail
- A
YOUR_…placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong.
