Steps
- Open
~/.codex/config.toml, or create it. The Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share this file. - Add this table at the end of the file.
{
"amp.mcpServers": {
"rocketchat-mcp": {
"command": "uvx",
"args": ["rocketchat-mcp==0.1.0"],
"env": { "ROCKETCHAT_SERVER_URL": "YOUR_ROCKETCHAT_SERVER_URL", "ROCKETCHAT_USER_ID": "YOUR_ROCKETCHAT_USER_ID", "ROCKETCHAT_AUTH_TOKEN": "YOUR_ROCKETCHAT_AUTH_TOKEN" }
}
}
} - Replace
YOUR_ROCKETCHAT_SERVER_URL,YOUR_ROCKETCHAT_USER_ID,YOUR_ROCKETCHAT_AUTH_TOKENwith your own values. - Save the file and restart Amp.
Check it worked
Ask Amp: List the tools of rocketchat-mcp.
If it does not start
- spawn uvx ENOENT
- uv is not on the PATH that Amp sees. Install it, or write the
full path of
uvxin the config. - The server starts, but its tools fail
- A
YOUR_…placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong. - Nothing changes after a restart
- The file is not valid JSON any more. Look for a missing comma where the block was added.
