Install Gtm Ga4 in Codex
What you need first
- Codex, installed.
- Node.js, which
gives the
npxcommand the server starts with. - Your own values for
YOUR_GOOGLE_APPLICATION_CREDENTIALS,YOUR_GTM_ACCOUNT_ID,YOUR_GTM_CONTAINER_ID.
Steps
- Run this in a terminal. It writes the server into
~/.codex/config.toml, which the Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share.
codex mcp add gtm-ga4 --env GOOGLE_APPLICATION_CREDENTIALS=YOUR_GOOGLE_APPLICATION_CREDENTIALS --env GTM_ACCOUNT_ID=YOUR_GTM_ACCOUNT_ID --env GTM_CONTAINER_ID=YOUR_GTM_CONTAINER_ID -- npx -y [email protected] - Replace
YOUR_GOOGLE_APPLICATION_CREDENTIALS,YOUR_GTM_ACCOUNT_ID,YOUR_GTM_CONTAINER_IDwith your own values. - Start Codex again and type
/mcp: the server is listed.

- Node.js is not on the PATH that Codex sees. Install it, or write the
full path of
npxin the config. - The server starts, but its tools fail
- A
