Install Instagram in Devin Desktop
What you need first
- Devin Desktop, installed.
- Node.js, which
gives the
npxcommand the server starts with. - Your own values for
YOUR_INSTAGRAM_ACCESS_TOKEN,YOUR_INSTAGRAM_ACCOUNT_ID.
Steps
- Open
~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json, or create it. On Windows it is%APPDATA%\devin\mcp_config.json. - Add this block. If the file already has
mcpServers, add only the entry inside it.
{
"mcpServers": {
"instagram-mcp": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@mcpware/[email protected]"],
"env": { "INSTAGRAM_ACCESS_TOKEN": "YOUR_INSTAGRAM_ACCESS_TOKEN", "INSTAGRAM_ACCOUNT_ID": "YOUR_INSTAGRAM_ACCOUNT_ID" }
}
}
} - Replace
YOUR_INSTAGRAM_ACCESS_TOKEN,YOUR_INSTAGRAM_ACCOUNT_IDwith your own values. - Save the file and restart Devin Desktop.
Check it worked
Ask Devin Desktop: List the tools of instagram-mcp.
If it does not start
- spawn npx ENOENT
- Node.js is not on the PATH that Devin Desktop sees. Install it, or write the
full path of
npxin the config. - The server starts, but its tools fail
- A
YOUR_…placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong. - Nothing changes after a restart
- The file is not valid JSON any more. Look for a missing comma where the block was added.
