Install Document corpus in Cline
What you need first
- Cline, installed.
- uv, which
gives the
uvxcommand the server starts with. - Your own values for
YOUR_MDCX_FILE,YOUR_MDCX_KEY.
Steps
- In Cline, open the MCP Servers icon, then the Configure tab, and choose Configure MCP Servers.
It opens
cline_mcp_settings.json. - Add this block. If the file already has
mcpServers, add only the entry inside it.
{
"mcpServers": {
"mdcx": {
"command": "uvx",
"args": ["mdcx==1.0.3", "-m", "mdcx.mcp_server"],
"env": { "MDCX_FILE": "YOUR_MDCX_FILE", "MDCX_KEY": "YOUR_MDCX_KEY" }
}
}
} - Replace
YOUR_MDCX_FILE,YOUR_MDCX_KEYwith your own values. - Save the file. Cline reloads it and lists the server under MCP Servers.
Check it worked
Ask Cline: List the tools of mdcx.
If it does not start
- spawn uvx ENOENT
- uv is not on the PATH that Cline sees. Install it, or write the
full path of
uvxin the config. - The server starts, but its tools fail
- A
YOUR_…placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong. - Nothing changes after a restart
- The file is not valid JSON any more. Look for a missing comma where the block was added.
