Install Kubernetes Ephemeral Job in Kiro CLI
What you need first
- Kiro CLI, installed.
- Docker, which
gives the
dockercommand the server starts with. - Your own value for
YOUR_MCP_K8S_ALLOWED_IMAGES.
Steps
- Open
~/.codex/config.toml, or create it. The Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share this file. - Add this table at the end of the file.
{
"mcpServers": {
"mcp-k8s-ephemeral-job": {
"command": "docker",
"args": ["run", "-i", "--rm", "-e", "MCP_K8S_ALLOWED_IMAGES", "docker.io/idconstruct/mcp-k8s-ephemeral-job:v0.7.1"],
"env": { "MCP_K8S_ALLOWED_IMAGES": "YOUR_MCP_K8S_ALLOWED_IMAGES" }
}
}
} - Replace
YOUR_MCP_K8S_ALLOWED_IMAGESwith your own value. - Save the file and restart Kiro CLI.
Check it worked
Ask Kiro CLI: List the tools of mcp-k8s-ephemeral-job.
If it does not start
- Cannot connect to the Docker daemon
- Docker is not running. Start it, then restart Kiro CLI.
- The server starts, but its tools fail
- A
YOUR_…placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong. - Nothing changes after a restart
- The file is not valid JSON any more. Look for a missing comma where the block was added.
