What you need first

  • Claude Code, installed.

  • Your own values for YOUR_VIKUNJA_URL,YOUR_VIKUNJA_USERNAME,YOUR_VIKUNJA_PASSWORD.

Steps

  1. Run this in a terminal, in the project folder. It adds the server for you in that project; put --scope user after claude mcp add to have it in every project.
claude mcp add --env VIKUNJA_URL=YOUR_VIKUNJA_URL --env VIKUNJA_USERNAME=YOUR_VIKUNJA_USERNAME --env VIKUNJA_PASSWORD=YOUR_VIKUNJA_PASSWORD --transport stdio vikunjamcp -- docker run -i --rm -e VIKUNJA_URL -e VIKUNJA_USERNAME -e VIKUNJA_PASSWORD docker.io/idjohnson/vikunjamcp:0.26
  1. Replace YOUR_VIKUNJA_URL,YOUR_VIKUNJA_USERNAME,YOUR_VIKUNJA_PASSWORD with your own values.
  2. Start Claude Code and type /mcp: the server is listed with its state.

The server starts, but its tools fail
A YOUR_… placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong.
