Install Icedq in Codex
What you need first
- Codex, installed.
- Node.js, which
gives the
npxcommand the server starts with. - Your own values for
YOUR_ICEDQ_BASE_URL,YOUR_ICEDQ_REALM,YOUR_ICEDQ_CLIENT_ID,YOUR_AUTH_TYPE,YOUR_ICEDQ_ORG_ID.
Steps
- Run this in a terminal. It writes the server into
~/.codex/config.toml, which the Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share.
codex mcp add mcp-server --env ICEDQ_BASE_URL=YOUR_ICEDQ_BASE_URL --env ICEDQ_REALM=YOUR_ICEDQ_REALM --env ICEDQ_CLIENT_ID=YOUR_ICEDQ_CLIENT_ID --env AUTH_TYPE=YOUR_AUTH_TYPE --env ICEDQ_ORG_ID=YOUR_ICEDQ_ORG_ID -- npx -y @icedq/[email protected] - Replace
YOUR_ICEDQ_BASE_URL,YOUR_ICEDQ_REALM,YOUR_ICEDQ_CLIENT_ID,YOUR_AUTH_TYPE,YOUR_ICEDQ_ORG_IDwith your own values. - Start Codex again and type
/mcp: the server is listed.
Check it worked
Ask Codex: List the tools of mcp-server.
If it does not start
- spawn npx ENOENT
- Node.js is not on the PATH that Codex sees. Install it, or write the
full path of
npxin the config. - The server starts, but its tools fail
- A
YOUR_…placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong.
