Install Macwhisper in Kiro CLI
What you need first
- Kiro CLI, installed.
- uv, which
gives the
uvxcommand the server starts with. - Your own value for
YOUR_MACWHISPER_ALLOWED_PATHS.
Steps
- Open
~/.codex/config.toml, or create it. The Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share this file. - Add this table at the end of the file.
{
"mcpServers": {
"macwhisper-mcp-server": {
"command": "uvx",
"args": ["macwhisper-mcp-server==1.2.1"],
"env": { "MACWHISPER_ALLOWED_PATHS": "YOUR_MACWHISPER_ALLOWED_PATHS" }
}
}
} - Replace
YOUR_MACWHISPER_ALLOWED_PATHSwith your own value. - Save the file and restart Kiro CLI.
Check it worked
Ask Kiro CLI: List the tools of macwhisper-mcp-server.
If it does not start
- spawn uvx ENOENT
- uv is not on the PATH that Kiro CLI sees. Install it, or write the
full path of
uvxin the config. - The server starts, but its tools fail
- A
YOUR_…placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong. - Nothing changes after a restart
- The file is not valid JSON any more. Look for a missing comma where the block was added.
