Install Car Helper Tools: Car Recalls, MOT, Car Specs & EU VAT in Cursor
What you need first
- Cursor, installed.
- Nothing else: the server runs on its publisher's machines and Cursor connects to it.
Steps
- Open
~/.cursor/mcp.json, or create it. For one project only, use.cursor/mcp.jsonin that project. - Add this block. If the file already has
mcpServers, add only the entry inside it.
{
"mcpServers": {
"car-helper-tools": {
"url": "https://mcp.apify.com/?tools=jyaussie/vehicle-year-risk-comparator,jyaussie/eu-vehicle-recall-monitor,jyaussie/uk-mot-failure-stats,jyaussie/cyprus-company-vat-check,jyaussie/eu-car-specs-co2"
}
}
} - Save the file. In Cursor's settings, find the server in the MCP section and turn it on if it is off.
Check it worked
Ask Cursor: List the tools of car-helper-tools.
If it does not start
- 401 Unauthorized
- The endpoint wants a sign-in or a key. Sign in when Cursor asks.
- Nothing changes after a restart
- The file is not valid JSON any more. Look for a missing comma where the block was added.
