Install Altr in Codex
What you need first
- Codex, installed.
- uv, which
gives the
uvxcommand the server starts with. - Your own values for
YOUR_ORG_ID,YOUR_MAPI_KEY,YOUR_MAPI_SECRET.
Steps
- Run this in a terminal. It writes the server into
~/.codex/config.toml, which the Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share.
codex mcp add altr-mcp-server --env ORG_ID=YOUR_ORG_ID --env MAPI_KEY=YOUR_MAPI_KEY --env MAPI_SECRET=YOUR_MAPI_SECRET -- uvx altr-mcp==0.7.1 - Replace
YOUR_ORG_ID,YOUR_MAPI_KEY,YOUR_MAPI_SECRETwith your own values. - Start Codex again and type
/mcp: the server is listed.
Check it worked

If it does not start
- spawn uvx ENOENT
- uv is not on the PATH that Codex sees. Install it, or write the
full path of
uvxin the config. - The server starts, but its tools fail
- A
