Install Universal DB (read-only) in Cline

What you need first

• Cline, installed.
• Docker, which gives the docker command the server starts with.

Steps

1. In Cline, open the MCP Servers icon, then the Configure tab, and choose Configure MCP Servers. It opens cline_mcp_settings.json.
2. Add this block. If the file already has mcpServers, add only the entry inside it.

3. Save the file. Cline reloads it and lists the server under MCP Servers.

Check it worked

Ask Cline: List the tools of universal-db-mcp.

If it does not start

Cannot connect to the Docker daemon

Docker is not running. Start it, then restart Cline.

Nothing changes after a restart

The file is not valid JSON any more. Look for a missing comma where the block was added.
