Install The Game Crafter in Codex
What you need first
- Codex, installed.
- Node.js, which
gives the
npxcommand the server starts with. - Your own values for
YOUR_TGC_API_KEY_ID,YOUR_TGC_USERNAME,YOUR_TGC_PASSWORD.
Steps
- Run this in a terminal. It writes the server into
~/.codex/config.toml, which the Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share.
codex mcp add thegamecrafter --env TGC_API_KEY_ID=YOUR_TGC_API_KEY_ID --env TGC_USERNAME=YOUR_TGC_USERNAME --env TGC_PASSWORD=YOUR_TGC_PASSWORD -- npx -y @alex-gon/[email protected] - Replace
YOUR_TGC_API_KEY_ID,YOUR_TGC_USERNAME,YOUR_TGC_PASSWORDwith your own values. - Start Codex again and type
/mcp: the server is listed.

If it does not start
- spawn npx ENOENT
- Node.js is not on the PATH that Codex sees. Install it, or write the
full path of
npxin the config. - The server starts, but its tools fail
- A
