Install Redmine in LM Studio
What you need first
- LM Studio, installed.
- Docker, which
gives the
dockercommand the server starts with. - Your own values for
YOUR_REDMINE_SERVER,YOUR_REDMINE_API_KEY.
Steps
- In LM Studio, open the Program tab and choose Install › Edit mcp.json.
- Add this block. If the file already has
mcpServers, add only the entry inside it.
{
"mcpServers": {
"redmine-mcp": {
"command": "docker",
"args": ["run", "-i", "--rm", "-e", "REDMINE_SERVER", "-e", "REDMINE_API_KEY", "ghcr.io/aarondpn/redmine-mcp:2.14.1"],
"env": { "REDMINE_SERVER": "YOUR_REDMINE_SERVER", "REDMINE_API_KEY": "YOUR_REDMINE_API_KEY" }
}
}
} - Replace
YOUR_REDMINE_SERVER,YOUR_REDMINE_API_KEYwith your own values. - Save the file and restart LM Studio.
Check it worked
Ask LM Studio: List the tools of redmine-mcp.
If it does not start
- Cannot connect to the Docker daemon
- Docker is not running. Start it, then restart LM Studio.
- The server starts, but its tools fail
- A
YOUR_…placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong. - Nothing changes after a restart
- The file is not valid JSON any more. Look for a missing comma where the block was added.
