Install Nutrient Document Engine MCP Server in TUUI

What you need first

  • TUUI, installed.
  • Node.js, which gives the npx command the server starts with.
  • Your own values for YOUR_DOCUMENT_ENGINE_BASE_URL,YOUR_DOCUMENT_ENGINE_API_AUTH_TOKEN.

Steps

  1. Open ~/.codex/config.toml, or create it. The Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share this file.
  2. Add this table at the end of the file.
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "nutrient-document-engine-mcp-server": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@nutrient-sdk/[email protected]"],
      "env": { "DOCUMENT_ENGINE_BASE_URL": "YOUR_DOCUMENT_ENGINE_BASE_URL", "DOCUMENT_ENGINE_API_AUTH_TOKEN": "YOUR_DOCUMENT_ENGINE_API_AUTH_TOKEN" }
    }
  }
}
  1. Replace YOUR_DOCUMENT_ENGINE_BASE_URL,YOUR_DOCUMENT_ENGINE_API_AUTH_TOKEN with your own values.
  2. Save the file and restart TUUI.

Check it worked

Ask TUUI: List the tools of nutrient-document-engine-mcp-server.

If it does not start

spawn npx ENOENT
Node.js is not on the PATH that TUUI sees. Install it, or write the full path of npx in the config.
The server starts, but its tools fail
A YOUR_… placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong.
Nothing changes after a restart
The file is not valid JSON any more. Look for a missing comma where the block was added.
