Install Pusher Channels in mcp-client-cli
What you need first
- mcp-client-cli, installed.
- Node.js, which
gives the
npxcommand the server starts with. - Your own values for
YOUR_PUSHER_APP_ID,YOUR_PUSHER_KEY,YOUR_PUSHER_SECRET,YOUR_PUSHER_CLUSTER.
Steps
- Open
~/.codex/config.toml, or create it. The Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share this file. - Add this table at the end of the file.
{
"mcpServers": {
"pusher-mcp-server": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@crashbytes/[email protected]"],
"env": { "PUSHER_APP_ID": "YOUR_PUSHER_APP_ID", "PUSHER_KEY": "YOUR_PUSHER_KEY", "PUSHER_SECRET": "YOUR_PUSHER_SECRET", "PUSHER_CLUSTER": "YOUR_PUSHER_CLUSTER" }
}
}
} - Replace
YOUR_PUSHER_APP_ID,YOUR_PUSHER_KEY,YOUR_PUSHER_SECRET,YOUR_PUSHER_CLUSTERwith your own values. - Save the file and restart mcp-client-cli.
Check it worked
Ask mcp-client-cli: List the tools of pusher-mcp-server.
If it does not start
- spawn npx ENOENT
- Node.js is not on the PATH that mcp-client-cli sees. Install it, or write the
full path of
npxin the config. - The server starts, but its tools fail
- A
YOUR_…placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong. - Nothing changes after a restart
- The file is not valid JSON any more. Look for a missing comma where the block was added.
