Install Plugin in Codex
What you need first
- Codex, installed.
- Node.js, which
gives the
npxcommand the server starts with. - Your own values for
YOUR_CIRCULARA_BACKEND_URL,YOUR_CIRCULARA_TENANT_ID,YOUR_CIRCULARA_TOKEN,YOUR_CIRCULARA_SEAT_ID,YOUR_CIRCULARA_USER_ID.
Steps
- Run this in a terminal. It writes the server into
~/.codex/config.toml, which the Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share.
codex mcp add plugin --env CIRCULARA_BACKEND_URL=YOUR_CIRCULARA_BACKEND_URL --env CIRCULARA_TENANT_ID=YOUR_CIRCULARA_TENANT_ID --env CIRCULARA_TOKEN=YOUR_CIRCULARA_TOKEN --env CIRCULARA_SEAT_ID=YOUR_CIRCULARA_SEAT_ID --env CIRCULARA_USER_ID=YOUR_CIRCULARA_USER_ID -- npx -y @circulara/[email protected] - Replace
YOUR_CIRCULARA_BACKEND_URL,YOUR_CIRCULARA_TENANT_ID,YOUR_CIRCULARA_TOKEN,YOUR_CIRCULARA_SEAT_ID,YOUR_CIRCULARA_USER_IDwith your own values. - Start Codex again and type
/mcp: the server is listed.

Ask Codex: List the tools of plugin.
If it does not start
- spawn npx ENOENT
- Node.js is not on the PATH that Codex sees. Install it, or write the
full path of
npxin the config. - The server starts, but its tools fail
- A
YOUR_…placeholder is still in the config, or its value is wrong.
