AskIt is an open-source Python library with a command-line chat that lets models call tools from MCP servers and local Python functions. The CLI reads mcp_config.json from the current folder, where servers sit under mcpServers: local ones with a command and args, remote ones with a URL. Its README says it handles stdio, SSE and Streamable HTTP servers and supports only some model providers so far.
